This may be observed within the first few extractions and it is because the extraction technology used in Vertuo Next is designed to ensure a smoother and more indulgent appearance overtime after a few extractions.

Thereafter, the crema will be smoother and indulgent after these initial extractions.

The four capsule sizes create different sized coffees. The smallest capsules make espressos.  The medium sized capsules make double espressos and Gran Lungos. The large capsules make mug-sized (230ml) and the extra-large capsules make Carafe Pour-Over Style coffees.

Nespresso Vertuo is the next generation of at-home coffee systems. Developed through many years of research and development, Vertuo has revolutionised the way that coffee is extracted with its unique, patented Centrifusion™ technology and a specially crafted, dedicated set of coffee capsules, which together enable customers to make a wide range of high quality coffee in a variety of styles and cup sizes. The intelligent system uses barcode technology to recognize each of the 27 Nespresso coffees from its permanent range, adjusting the brewing parameters to extract each blend precisely how it was meant to be enjoyed.

The name Vertuo derives from the word “Virtuoso,” which means mastering an expertise. In this case, the name aims to underpin Nespresso’s mastering of the highest quality coffee for our consumers’ pleasure.

You can make espressos to larger cups with Vertuo - from a short Espresso, a smooth Gran Lungo or an indulgent Coffee topped with smooth and generous crema. Behind the scenes, the technology uses gentle Centrifusion™ extraction, recognizing each capsule and adapting the parameters accordingly to create your perfect coffee style.

With Original, you can also enjoy the same smooth, authentic taste of your coffee in shorter Espresso and Lungo sizes and espresso-based café style milk recipes such as Cappuccinos and Lattes. Original machines use a high-pressure 19 bar extraction system to release the fresh aromas from each capsule.

Vertuo will create a new high-quality coffee segment in Singapore. The Vertuo system revolutionizes the way that coffee is brewed with its Centrifusion™ technology and a range of capsule that together allow for different coffee sizes from a large cup to espresso. Brewing a cup of coffee with Vertuo is very convenient and easy to use as it automatically recognizes the coffee blend being brewed at a touch of a button, and then adjusts extraction parameters to create the perfect coffee finished with a silky and generous crema.

With Vertuo you can easily get an outstanding in-cup result by simply pouring milk before the coffee is extracted, which we call the Reverso™. While the coffee is filling the cup, milk nicely mixes with the crema and the coffee to give a unique smooth and indulgent beverage.

The smallest capsules make Espressos (40ml).  The medium sized capsules make Double Espressos (80ml) and Gran Lungos (150ml). The largest capsules make Mug-sized (230ml) and Alto (414ml) coffees. We have 5 sizes of coffee to provide versatility and match coffee preferences at any time of the day, be it a strong morning shot to start your day, or a large mug for slow weekends.

The amount of caffeine is different for each coffee and depends on two factors: the proportion of Robusta in the blend, and the quantity of ground coffee used to prepare the cup. For Vertuo, the caffeine content varies depending on the cup size and coffee blend:

Espresso (40ml): 70-150mg/cup

Gran Lungo (150ml): 120-200mg/cup

Mug (230ml) and Alto (414ml): 140-200mg/cup

Half Caffeinato (230ml): 90mg/cup

Yes. All Vertuo capsules can be recycled through the existing recycling system for Original capsules.

You can recycle your used Nespresso capsules using any bag you have available at home.

Product Information

They do not have an expiry date, but a best before date. This means that the quality, aromas, and taste remain optimal for no less than twelve (12) months. We guarantee the aromatic profile of our coffees. Past these twelve (12) months, there might be a small reduction in the aroma intensity in the blends, but the product remains safe for consumption. You can find the best before date printed on each sleeve.

It is generally safe for expectant mothers to consume a total of 300mg of caffeine a day. However, we suggest that it would be best to consult a doctor before consumption. It is not bad for our health if we only consume a moderate amount of coffee, which is 4 to 5 cups a day. This is considered safe by all food authorities and does not pose any risk to human health.

Nespresso stands for highest coffee quality, as guaranteed by the freshness and intensity of the coffee aroma. Aluminum offers an impermeable barrier to oxygen, light, ultra-violet rays or water vapour. This protection is essential for preserving the high quality of the coffee.

Aluminum is the best material available today for protecting the freshness, taste, and quality of our coffees. Additionally, aluminum is highly valuable from a sustainability perspective. It is infinitely recyclable, and an estimated 75% of all aluminum produced is still in use today. Because its properties do not change in the recycling process, which uses only 5% of the energy required to produce new aluminum, it can be reused in a wide range of products, from cars to computers, and many more.

Nespresso capsules are competitively priced based on the quality of our coffee. We select the highest quality beans from the world’s finest coffee-producing regions. Only the top 1-2% of the world’s coffee crop meets our specific taste and aroma profile. We also offer best-in-class personalized services that match the lifestyles and preferences of our Nespresso Club Members.

The intensity is defined by a coffee’s degree of roasting, its body, and its bitterness. In addition, the intensity is due to the concentration of the coffee. It does not refer to the amount of caffeine found in the coffee.

A ristretto is a 25ml shot of coffee (the smallest cup button in some machines). The ristretto capsules contain 5g of coffee of a very fine grind.

An espresso is a 40ml shot of coffee (the small cup button). The espresso capsules contain 5g of coffee of a very fine grind.

A lungo is a 110ml shot of coffee (the large cup bottom). The lungo capsules contain 7g of coffee of a courser grind, meaning that more water can be passed through the capsules before you begin to over extract

Every year, Nespresso introduces one or more limited editions to surprise her Club members with new coffee discoveries. Limited Edition is produced from special high quality coffee beans that are available and purchased in limited quantities. Limited Edition is therefore only available for limited periods of time.

An invitation to travel the globe through coffee. Discover World Explorations, a Lungo range inspired by a selection of coffee cultures around the globe. From two new mild lungos to refined blends, this range has it all. Including some of your favourite balanced and intense coffees. To find more detail, you can click here.

The caffeine content depends on the Nespresso coffee, and is defined by the proportion of Robusta coffee ground in the blend (Robusta containing more caffeine than Arabica) and the "grammage" of coffee per capsule. The Ristretto range (25ml) varies from 60 to 80 mg caffeine per cup. Kazaar is an exception as it is very high in Robusta and contains 120 mg caffeine The Espresso range (40ml) varies from 50 to 70 mg caffeine per cup The Lungo range (110 ml) varies from 60 to 80 mg caffeine per cup. Envivo Lungo is an exception and contains 110 mg caffein The Decaffeinato range contain 2 to 4 mg caffeine per cup All coffees in the Professional line contain between 50 to 100 mg caffeine per cup, while the Decaffeinato range contain 2 to 4 mg caffeine per cup.

All decaffeinated product is tested and must legally contain less than 0.1% residual caffeine. Caffein content is checked in green coffee, in roasted coffee and in the finished product. Decaffeinated coffee contains max 3 mg of caffine per cup.

The green coffee is soaked in water of around 80° C for about an hour. The caffeine dissolves into the water.

The coffee is then removed from the water and carbon is added to the water to remove the caffeine. After that the coffee is put back into the water to dry out and reabsorb the natural coffee bean aromas. The usual grinding and roasting methods are then employed.

The removal of caffeine is, therefore, completely natural. This decaffeination process removes up to 99.9% of the caffeine from the coffee beans.

The calorie content in an Espresso cup is negligible. There are 1260 Kj (300 Kcal) in 100 grams of roasted and ground coffee. The Nespresso Espresso capsules contain an average of 5.5 grams of coffee and Lungos contain around 7 grams. The fact that the ground coffee is dissolved in water means that a cup of coffee contains even fewer calories. A 40 ml Espresso contains around 0.6 calories and a 110 ml Lungo contains around 1 calorie.

No. None of the Nespresso Coffee Capsules contain allergens such as gluten, lactose, or nuts. The 29 Coffee Capsules contain 100% coffee and are hermetically sealed in order to prevent exposure to air and moisture. Terms such as malt, milk or cocoa refer to the aromatic profile (that naturally occurs in the bean) and do not refer to physical elements within the capsule.

Variations are 100% allergen free. They are based on the Grand Cru Livanto and are enriched with natural aromas with no added sugar and preservatives.

However we suggest that it would be best to consult your family doctor before consumption.

It is estimated that approximately 6% of the coffee that we purchase is certified Fairtrade, as a number of farmers in our AAA Program are also Fairtrade certified. The core of Nespresso’s commitment to sustainability and farmer welfare is built around the Nespresso AAA Sustainable Quality Program, which incorporates over 63,000 farmers across 13 countries. FAQ1

Recycling

Nespresso coffee capsules are made from aluminum – the best material to protect the freshness and quality of our coffee, which has the additional benefit of being infinitely recyclable. Nespresso has been investing in its dedicated recycling scheme for more than 25 years. We are committed to making it as simple and convenient for our customers to recycle their Nespresso capsules.

There are currently three ways to recycle your used Nespresso aluminum coffee capsules in the Philippines:

Return your used aluminum capsules to a Nespresso Boutique.
Drop them off at a participating collection point.
Return your used aluminum capsules for every home delivery upon ordering on the website.

Nespresso aluminum coffee capsules that are recycled with Nespresso are sent to a specialist recycling plant. There, the aluminum is separated from the residual coffee. The coffee is sent to local farms to be transformed into compost, while the aluminum is recycled and sent back to the aluminum industry to produce new aluminum products.

We use aluminum because it is the best material to protect the freshness, taste and quality of Nespresso coffee. Aluminum is a naturally-occurring metal and is infinitely recyclable. Thanks to the aluminum, there is no need for additional over-packaging to protect freshness and taste. Recycled aluminum is extremely versatile. An estimated 75% of all aluminum ever produced is still in use today. Aluminum is used in a wide range of products, from food packaging to cars and computers, window frames to bicycles.

Nespresso capsules require a special grade of aluminum. The availability of recycled aluminum in this specific grade is very low. In fact, the best source of the correct grade of aluminum is from recycled Nespresso capsules. We are using recycled Nespresso capsules to make new capsules wherever it is feasible and it makes sense environmentally.

Plastic capsules generally need more packaging such as an additional wrapper to preserve freshness. Ironically, this is often made of aluminum. We believe aluminum is the more sustainable material for our capsules as it reduces the need for extra packaging and protects the freshness and quality of our coffee - and it is infinitely recyclable.

We believe that portioned coffee makes sense from a sustainability perspective. We use a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach to measure the carbon footprint of our products. We are working at all stages of our product life-cycle – from seed to sip – to reduce our environment impact. Since 2009, we have already reduced the carbon footprint of every cup of Nespresso by almost 20%.

We use a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach to measure the environmental impact of our products. It shows that the greatest impacts are the processes of coffee farming, followed by the machine-use phase. Packaging is not the main driver of the environmental impact, it only comes third. With the Nespresso precision consumption system, our customers only use the exact amount of water, coffee and energy needed to make one cup with no wasted resources - minimising food, water and energy waste. The precise use of resources in a precision consumption system can actually reduce waste, and in many scenarios this more than compensates for the additional packaging used for portioned coffee.

We offer a free of charge collection service to our larger customers for their used Nespresso capsules. Upon request or during delivery, we pick up their used aluminum capsules (both Professional & in-home Nespresso capsules). As both Nespresso capsules are recyclable, we also encourage businesses to collect the used Nespresso aluminum capsules that employees can bring in from home, making it even easier to participate in recycling.

We believe that customers understand and appreciate the impact that recycling can have on improving the environmental performance of a cup of Nespresso coffee and in itself this provides a strong incentive to recycle used capsules.
